SMNUK ‘25❗️*
(O Brittania, Here I Come).
It had been a long year.
And I wondered whether or not we had given ourselves enough time post Cancer therapy, to both properly recuperate physically & mentally, while fretting into birth the schematics & preparation of our return to the land of Great Britain,
where we’d not professionally been since shortly after the Century’s turn, 2002.
Circumstances being as they were, often we questioned the wisdom of our commitment to the timeline’s brevity, looming in the shadow as it were of many doubts mainly reflecting on not having been in that situation before, a longshoreman awash on virgin shores.
These Gigs Mattered to Me.
Very Much So.
And They Had to Be Clubs.
I was reclaiming a thread left unwoven, reconnecting with an old love at ground level, who had both given and claimed a life, & returning to commune with a culture that shaped our mind from childhood & gave flight & roots to a restless spirit.
It Was Time to Kiss & Make Up.
It mattered to me that we be worthy of the story that in the meanwhile had been written about an Artist’s transition from one life to the next,
though through every curve & turn,
‘A Melody’, for every mountain, a song.
Hence, SMNUK ‘25 !
The Sugar Plum Pharaohs & I invite you to partake of this wonderful experience we had together at the O2 Empire in Shepherd’s Bush, London (after 23 years, on Guy Fawkes night no less), which I had last played in the singular & thrillingly fabulous year of 1995.
Despite our initial anxiety about the schedule (pronounced particularly for these purposes as do the Brits, “SHED-ule”) that we’d given our word towards, focus & determination prevailed & the results we hope, should be clear enough in the great fun & joy we had being back amongst the rollicking camaraderie of an English audience, & in the city of London, where I first drew blood. 🇬🇧
