What Happens to the Snowman
When it Melts ?
Does it only fade away
Like I’ve felt
When I’m down on my reason to be ?
(Which seems to occur seasonally)
When I tighten up my belt
To prepare for the long winter days
Shortened by the Hours
Far more than it pays
While sniffles, & coughs & a lingering malaise
(along with Tissues Crumpled & Tossed)
Accompany the nights that are lost
To the blow that is dealt by the Solar Rays & the Ferocious Phantoms of the Howling Winds
Whistling past as A Storm Cloud Plays
Whose Hand the Snowman Once Held
The Cost One Supposes of a Life So Brief
Constructed by laughter, shattered by grief Just A Few Days After the Calendar’s Crossed
BUT SOON WILL COME SPRING !
& A New Bird Will Sing
Beneath the Unbroken Bough Of Yet Another New Leaf
Warbling the Words of Another Chapter…
UNTIL THE THIEF OF AUTUMN COMES
A SNOWMAN IS NO MAN AT ALL
Before the Chill Factor Plummets & the Frosted Flakes Fall
Creating A Fresh Start
Where before there was none
To Summon the Restless December
To Tear it Apart
& Surrender it Back to the Sun.
Dear Fellow Astronauts of Inner Space,
I wanted to pass on to you this Excerpt from a small volume of Poems that I am aiming towards a Release early next year, 2024, the Title of which will be ‘THE POEMS OF VESPER SWANN’.
This Poem was inspired by an Idea which appeared to me one day while wandering through the Mountains. The consequential question whispered to me by Vesper Swann that cornered my imagination was simply,
WHAT HAPPENS TO A SNOWMAN WHEN IT MELTS ?
The Concept of which I plan to further pursue at a later point in time.
Please Enjoy ‘THE SNOWMAN’ !
And remember that ‘A Snowman Is No Man At All, Beforehand the Winter Calls’ !
