REFLECTING LIGHT

IF I STRUGGLE WITH AFFLICTION,
ITS BECAUSE I CUDDLE WITH MY CONTRADICTIONS
LIFE HERSELF IS ‘HABIT FORMING’
& ALL MY NIGHTS WERE MADE FOR MOURNING
THE LOSS OF MEMORY, A LIFE OF FICTION
UNTIL AGAIN I FIND THE LIGHT OF MORNING
STRANDED BY THE FABRIC HOLDING
THE COFFEE STAINS IN THE KITCHEN.
I STAND IN THIS REFLECTING LIGHT
IN MY MIDNIGHT HOUR
BURNING CANDLES TO REGAIN MY SIGHT,
WANING WITH THE WINTER MOON &
WAXING MY CANDLES BEFORE THEY BURN TOO SOON
& TURN TO SMOKE
FROM NEGLIGENCE OR SPITE
WHILE I FIGHT, THE DRAGONS OF THE PAST
& ALL OF MY SHITE
THAT I CHOKE WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT,
While Dancing with the Reflections of My Silver Spoon
& it’s kryptonite.

If I stray from a bullet like an aimless gun
Heading for targets to crush like crumbs
FROM THE TABLES OF FAIRY TALES & FABLES
While drowning like sailors stuck in their own navels
From middle fingers to wayward thumbs
That steal the MAPLE FROM MY SUGARPLUMS
Before I lick my hands & wounds of all that they’ve been through.
LIFE’S A BITCH & ‘HABIT FORMING’ TOO
& If I can’t have it, then WHY THE HELL SHOULD YOU?
It’s not ALL Butterflies & Rainbows
But sometimes just Elbows & Pain
& that space where the lies go when you try to explain.
I STAND IN REFLECTING LIGHT &
Making of my Shadow, THE DREAM OF A PARISIAN,
But the reflection of A Parasite.

IF I CALL THIS THING ‘ADDICTION’,
Do I chain myself to the WHEEL OF TIME
WITHOUT MY OWN PERMISSION ?
Do I extend my mercy towards the stars & climb
Or from the gutter bathe in this REFLECTION LIGHT ?
OR DO I TILT MY HEAD TOWARDS THE GRAVE
WHOSE SMOKE RINGS RISE
FROM THE RUINS OF GRAVITY’S FATAL SURPRISE
That is always caught between Circumstance &
The look of Confusion in the eyes
Before death brings satisfaction ?
THIS IS MY DICHOTOMY
Though life won’t make a DICK OUT OF ME
Once I control the action.
Just a little bit more REFLECTING LIGHT
& I HAPPEN TO THINK THAT I SHOULD BE ALRIGHT.
Be sure that LIFE IS HABIT FORMING
& that NO ONE gets through without a WARNING
AND DRAGON FIRE IS NOT MEANT FOR TAMING
The PERIODIC TABLES that are turning
Global Hearts Hell Bent On WARMING
From REFLECTING LIGHT.
As you can see,
“I’ve GOT A WHOLE LIFETIME AHEAD OF ME,
IF I CAN JUST GET THROUGH THE REST OF THE NIGHT.”
