What mainly keeps us from INNER PEACE are our Ideas about it.

I recently read a story in the NEW YORKER (Yes, Virginia my darling it gets delivered to Italy) whereby someone had gotten a hold of an old number once belonging to Courtney Love and began out of frustration imitating her and answering the phone as Madame Courtney. This went on for a while before apparently, the guilty party tired of the charade and ended it after a spell. For me the only thing missing from the well told story was the obvious ending it deserved, whereby Madame Love herself calls the old number and says: “Hello Darling, This Is Courtney!
Any Calls For Me?”
This from someone who with friends as a teenager used to perform phone pranks.
There was also a game whereby we would have about 3 or 4 people call the same number over the course of a day and ask for ‘Raoul’. An exasperated person would repeatedly announce that THERE IS NO DAMN RAOUL WHO LIVES HERE So Please Stop Calling!!!
After which, one of us who’d not called earlier would then duly call the number late at night and say to the very annoyed person answering the phone late at night from a comfortable sleep, “Hi, My Name Is Raoul. Any Calls For Me?”
Oh for the days when we could so very easily get away with being Young, Dumb & Full of Cumberland.
RAPE IS DEATH AND ALWAYS CLAIMS TWO LIVES.
And even should one evade the law, one can never evade time
And TIME CATCHES UP TO ALL.
For one to believe that they can violate another so intrusively
Without bearing cost already shows evidence of madness.
And if we as a society cannot protect & give value to our women,

Then we show more than enough evidence in kind, that we do not deserve them.
When have we ever valued what we feel unworthy of?
Our job is to protect our women & children, straight up & down.
Regardless of how many satellites we can send into space.
Who feels otherwise is not worthy of our communion.
While mothers are rightfully given credit for their ability to breed life,
less is said about their equal capacity to destroy it, since it doesn’t sell very well.

The best conversation that I’ve heard in quite a while took place ‘cosi’:

To which Federico, much to the amusement of his older brother Francesco intones; “Lo So”, (I Know).
He then asked his mother if she knew WHY his penis was so erect.
She answered no.
His reply for the ages: It’s Because I’m Happy!
Only 3, and yet, already close enough to the heart of what the situation is.
May he hang on to it, (his understanding, if not his actual penis).
